Police executed 18 search warrants at multiple properties, seized “live ammunition, drugs believed to be cocaine, and over $300,000 in cash” and “five arrests.”

A police spokesperson said, “On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Bermuda Police conducted Operation ALGEDI, conducting multiple simultaneous searches involving more than 70 officers.

“The BPS Financial Crimes Division, assisted by the Serious Crimes Division, Narcotics Division, Tactics Division and Regional Police Division, has executed 18 search warrants at several Bermuda properties.

“Several live ammunition, a drug believed to be cocaine, and over $300,000 in cash were seized following a criminal proceeds act search warrant.

“Large amounts of high-value goods believed to have been obtained from criminal proceeds were also seized. Five persons were arrested in connection with the operation. No police officers, politicians or customs officials were arrested.”

Detective Chief Inspector Sherwin Joseph of the Office of Specialist Investigations said: The investigation is at a critical time and no further information is available at this time. ”
