Singapore: A lot of people were seen on Saturday (June 25th) when people gathered to see the performance of a popular street performer outside Cathay on Dhoby Ghaut’s Handy Road.
Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram videos show a wide circle of viewers waving their flashlights on their smartphones in sync with the music.
The street performer is musician Jeff Ng, and TODAY reported that every Saturday’s performance is a hot topic on social media.
A 32-year-old woman who has been a street performer since 2018 said today that she needs to stop performing when the COVID-19 pandemic occurs.
Last month he started street performance again at Cathay, and in a few weeks his video became viral on TikTok and won Ng a Monica-Cathay street performer.
On Instagram, he currently has about 39,000 followers and about 24,800 followers on TikTok.
Jelyn Chua, one of the audiences spoken by CNA, said she stood up to help Ng.
“I saw him (Jeff) on Facebook. I think he’s very popular,” she said. She confessed that she was worried about getting infected with COVID-19, but she said she was wearing a mask to protect her.
