Actress Anna Faris has accused the late director Ivan Reitman of yelling and spanking him on the set of the 2006 film My Super Ex-Girlfriend.
The 45-year-old scary movie star made allegations of bullying behavior from her early career with guest Lena Dunham on the latest episode of her podcast Unqualified.
In Wednesday’s episode, she said:
“So the idea of making comedy in this situation like the Reign of Terror is that he was yelling. He beat someone every day and my first day, it was me.” “
The actress who played Hannah Lewis in the romantic comedy recalled that her first scene was a fight with Uma Thurman, filmed in New York in the winter.
She said that before they shot the scene, she was doing her hair and makeup and was late for the set when a hairstylist accidentally bumped a jar of wig glue into her and her character’s expensive costumes. I explained.
“On my first day, I was really horrified that Yvan thought I was some kind of diva who didn’t come out of the trailer,” she said.
“I’m kind of in the middle of the city. It’s a night shoot and Ivan is dropping me off.”
Asked if Reitman yelled at her, Faris confirmed he did, saying, “Annie, you can’t play like that here.
“I was angry, hurt, humiliated and defensive. Eventually I said, ‘Didn’t anyone tell me what happened?'” she added.
“At that point, he shut up and went behind the camera, and then he slapped my ass too. It was a weird moment.”
After recalling the experience, Dunham asked Faris if anyone intervened, and she replied, “No, it was like 2006.”
Reitman, who directed 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1988’s Twins, died in February at the age of 75.
In 2017, Faris shared on a podcast that she was made to feel “small” when a film director slapped her on the buttocks while on set, but didn’t provide a name at the time.
she said: I chuckled.
“I remember looking around and other crew members were like, ‘What are you going to do about it? It seemed strange.
“That’s how I turned it down. It didn’t seem like a big deal. But it made me feel small. He wouldn’t have done that to the lead man.”
She said no one was standing up for her because the man was the director, and admitted that she handled the situation by telling herself to “back up.”
The mother of one was sharing her story at the time following sexual harassment allegations against disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein.
