The messaging app update was one of the dozens the company saw at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event in California.
The electronics giant has announced a newly redesigned MacBook Air laptop and a new MacBook Pro. Both are powered by Apple’s second-generation computer chip, the M2, which dramatically improves power and performance, the company said.
WWDC is used each year to preview new versions of software that power Apple’s most popular devices (iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac computers).
The next version of Apple’s software that powers the iPhone, iOS 16, also includes a redesigned lock screen that gives users more customization with a variety of fonts, photo filters, and interactive notifications. ..
The company said that updating the message would allow users to undo the message for up to 15 minutes after sending it.
This software also includes an Apple Pay update called Apple Pay Later. This allows users to split their Apple Pay purchase costs into four payments divided into six weeks, with no interest or additional charges. Initially introduced only in the United States.
Among the other notable announcements at the event was a new personal safety tool called a safety check. This allows users to see and reset their accounts and data access (including current location sharing) granted to other users when they leave an abusive relationship.
The tech giant also shared details of a previously confirmed plan to leave the password entered by announcing a new feature called Passkey. ..
However, despite strong rumors that the company’s first augmented reality headset could be previewed, the keynote didn’t mention technology or such devices.
“We are confident that our great products and innovative platforms will encourage developers to do the best job of their lives,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
RuBhikha, a mobile expert at Uswitch.com, said: “With the release of iOS 16, we’ll be able to amazingly customize the lock screen of your phone, allowing users to change every aspect of the screen’s appearance.
Apple will discontinue the iPod after more than 20 years …
“Giving users different lock screens for different purposes, such as work or personal, is an interesting idea and highlights notifications that are appropriate for the current setting.
“Introducing the ability to edit and delete the message you just sent can be a godsend, especially if you took the page out of your Slack playbook and sent the text for your partner to your boss. Even more so.
“Apple PayLater updates wallets in a timely manner in the face of a living crisis, allowing users to spread large purchases across four small interest-free payments.”
