Cairo: Joint military exercise “Hercules 2” involving Arab and foreign special forces concluded on Saturday.

The training, which began last Sunday and took place at the Mohammad Naguib military base, included special forces from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Greece and Cyprus.

The United States, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Bahrain participated in the exercise as observers, Egyptian military spokesman Colonel Ghalib Abdel Hafez said in a statement.

The final exercise involved assaulting a “terrorist outpost” within a border village, eradicating it and regaining control of the village, he said.

He said multi-mission aircraft carried out reconnaissance operations and provided air support to units participating in the training.

In addition, he said the training covers freeing hostages after military engineers find improvised explosive devices, deal with them, and blow holes in buildings.

Abdel Hafez indicated that the army conducted several exercises with different techniques using different weapons.

The training will continue to strengthen military ties between Egypt and its friendly and sister nations, with the aim of sharing expertise using all high-tech weapons, he concludes. rice field.
