The popular Irish band Aslan was forced to withdraw from the upcoming gig in Kilkenny this weekend as lead singer Christy Dignam was advised not to play for medical reasons.

The band and Dignam were scheduled to perform at the Barry Keef Amphitheater for a sold-out audience. The gig was rescheduled on August 5th.

Crazy World singer has been nine years since she was first diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare blood disease cancer, in March 2013.

Venue spokesman Martina Brennan wanted to add that Dignam is looking forward to welcoming him and the band to Kilkenny next month.

The band is preparing to play Dublin’s 3 Arena on September 17th to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Talking to the local radio station KCLRFMMs Brennan, he said:

“I also want him to recover very quickly because I know he loves to play and will not cancel unless he really has to do it.”

Fans who are unable to attend the new August will be asked to contact Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre.
