Avril Lavigne has been announced as the 2,731st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Canadian pop star, known for 2000s hits such as Complicated and Sk8er Boi, will be honored in the recording category.
Lavigne has established herself as an uncompromising force in music and culture, selling over 40 million albums worldwide and winning multiple awards throughout her career.
Her discography includes albums including 7-platinum Let Go, triple-platinum Under My Skin, double-platinum The Best Damn Thing, gold-selling Goodbye Lullaby and gold-selling Avril Lavigne, and Head Above Water. I’m here.
Lavigne’s latest release was her 2022 record Luv Sux, which featured US rapper Machine Gun Kelly, who is set to speak at her ceremony next week.
The singer also holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest female solo artist to top the UK charts.
Her hit “Girlfriend” was also the first music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube, and her social media followers exceed 93.8 million worldwide.
Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said, “It’s not complicated. Avril Lavigne is the right person for this Walk of Fame star and we want her to be this big.” I am thrilled to be honored.
“Avril’s fans have been blowing up my phone asking when she’s going to be a star. I’m thrilled to say that now is the time.”
Lavigne’s star is number 2,731 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on August 31st.
