BBC presenter Lauren Laburn said she was “totally broken heart” after her mother Celia died on Friday.
Laburn, who was at the site of Worthy Farm, the host of the BBC’s Glastonbury press, announced the news on Instagram.
She wrote in a long post: She was the kindest, most compassionate, and most tenacious person I have ever met.
“Born in the middle of nine children, she was a peacemaker and a master of persuasiveness.
“She passed over 11 years old and attended a grammar school that changed the direction of our family forever.
“I met my father at the age of 16 and loved him every day of her life.
“She ran the only reggae club night in the northeast, and to me that being young in the 1960s felt like that line of Mr. Tambourine Man,” waving with one hand and dancing under the diamond sky. ” Told.
“She worked as a seamstress and a casino dancer (also making costumes for the troupe), graduated from college and became a great teacher, eventually managing all the colleges in Sunderland.
“Somewhere she became political with me and my brother (she once chased someone from BNP down a path in our garden with a rolling pin in one hand and me in the other arm. I protested at Greenham Common and eventually became a member of the city council. “
Laburn, the host of the Desert Island Discs, added that his mother was “willing” to help people and thanked the team at University College London Hospital for taking care of her at the end of her life.
I lost my mom yesterday. She wants to acknowledge her wonderful life, so she posted a little about her on her Instagram. Here, I would like to thank her family, friends and colleagues for their truly amazing support, especially recently.X

“She had been watching decades of historical documentaries, so when she met historian Michael Wood, they talked like colleagues.
“She loved children and was the most devoted and beloved mother and grandmother you could meet.
“But she also knew that her mother was a noun as well as a verb, and she had many other people in need of love and support throughout her life.
“Thank you for everything.
“We are all completely saddened to lose her.
“She just gave the kids Glastonbury money and was looking forward to seeing Pauly (always known in our house, her favorite Beatles) tonight.
“She has been a fan since I saw him in the Sunderland Empire in 1963 (and later met him with me-he was just nice to her).
“Mom, I love you forever.
“Thank you for your wonderful life.
“I don’t know what to do without you, but I try to make it interesting. You will always be in my heart.”
She also thanked her “really amazing” family, friends and colleagues for her support on Twitter.
Celebrity friends such as Tom Grennan, Fearne Cotton, and Sophie Ellis Bexter were among those who posted condolence messages on Instagram.
In the tweet, the radio and television moderator thanked her for her “really amazing support for family, friends and colleagues.”
