“This week the world’s leading amateurs will battle it out for the Eisenhower Trophy. Last time it was held at the Golf National, Tiger Woods was a member of the gold medal-winning US team.

“Team Bermuda is made up of the best amateurs who have qualified for the Bermuda Golf Association Medal of Honor. Players representing the BGA this week are Jarryd Dilas, Damian Palanyandi and William Haddrell. Supported by Captain Gary Burnett, WATC team events are calculated with the two highest daily totals scored.

“This event is a monumental achievement for Jared Dillas. I surpassed the mark of eight times I had been.”

Mr Dylas said: Surpassing Bermuda’s amateur gaming stalwarts like Luis Moniz and Brendan “Beads” Ingham is something special. Attending his first event at the age of 17, it means a lot to be able to participate in his ninth event in France with this team.

“Playing well is our hope. The team spirit has been great this week and we look forward to playing well on two very different and challenging golf courses.”

“The BGA is confident that this team will take on the best players in the world on two of Europe’s most famous courses,” said Craig Brown, president of the club. A testament, he now represents Bermuda on nine different WATC teams.”
