A man died after jumping off the Sai Van Bridge on Monday night, police said, adding another to his death. Suicide numbers in Macau this summer.
Justice Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leng said the 35-year-old victim, Wong, was a civil servant.
At approximately 10:20 pm on Monday, police were notified by the Conde de San Januario Hospital Center that the man who had “fallen” into the coastal waters was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A citizen told police the man parked his motorcycle on the Sai Van Bridge, walked to the end of the bridge and jumped off.
Police called Macau Customs, and after its officials retrieved the victim from the waters under the bridge, the fire department took him to a public hospital in an ambulance.
No suspicious injuries were found on the victim. The exact cause of death will be confirmed by forensic examination.
The case is tentatively classified as a body discovery case, the Macau Post Daily reported.
