A 32-foot ship was observed sinking in Riddells Bay and “coast guards were dispatched to rescue the dog from the ship,” local officials confirmed.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Center spokesperson said:
“The Coast Guard was dispatched to rescue the dog from the ship.
“It was also noted that oil was leaking from the vessel and the DENR was contacted with a request to use absorbent pads to help clean up the oil spill.
“A search for the ship’s true owner is ongoing and the dog has been turned over to a dog custodian.”
