According to local police and Colombian media statements, the target of the shooting at a Colombian restaurant where Dutch tourists were killed by stray bullets was a Brazilian drug criminal, public broadcaster NOS said.
The newspaper El Espectador said the intended victim sitting at the table next to the woman was 42-year-old gang leader Afonso Celso Cardas Delima. He also died in the attack.
Caldas de Lima, who was sentenced to 24 years in Brazil for drug trafficking in 2016, managed to escape and has been on Interpol’s most sought-after list ever since.
The 27-year-old woman, identified by Colombian media as Manon van de Zande, is from the village of Eck en Wiel in Gelderland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
The filming took place in Leticia, a town on the border with Peru. Many locals were also injured. Police have not yet arrested anyone for the attack.
