(CNS): The Public Health Service reported last week that the number of newly detected COVID-19 cases in Cayman decreased by 44% to 148 from 265 in the past seven days. There was also a 13% drop in testing between August 14 and 20. However, the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals last week remained at 16, including seven new admissions.
“Hospitalization numbers remain low and no increase in deaths has been recorded,” PHD said in reference to the latest figures, which it said had paved the way for the lifting of COVID-related regulations.
Since the pandemic began in March 2020, more than 30,000 people have contracted COVID-19 in Cayman, 29 have died from complications, 83% of whom have not received the vaccine. In total he had more than 377 people hospitalized with her COVID, half of whom were at least partially vaccinated.
Over 95% of the population aged 5 years and over has received at least one dose of the vaccine, but over 60% of the population has not been vaccinated.
