Riyadh: According to Saudi diplomats, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman will begin a regional tour in Egypt on Monday and will take him to Turkey to strengthen regional ties.
After Cairo, Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader, Prince Mohammed, will travel to Jordan and then to Turkey, diplomats said.
During the tour, he discussed “regional and international files and the future of international cooperation,” adding that investment and energy transactions will be signed.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Friday that Prince Mohammed will visit Turkey on June 22nd.
This is the first time the Saudi royal family has visited Turkey since the brutal killing of Jamal Khashoggi, who turned from a Saudi insider to a critic at the Kingdom Consulate in Istanbul, shocking the world and among local rivals. It gave a big blow to the bond.
The visit after Prime Minister Erdogan’s visit to Saudi Arabia in April will seal efforts to heal relations between the two countries.
Saudi Arabian diplomats said Prince Mohammed will also visit Greece, Cyprus and Algeria “probably in late July.”
The Saudi government has not yet confirmed the Crown Prince’s future trip.
