I paid tribute to a young Dubliner who died in a car accident in the United States.
Aniel Slutary, 23, from Rathgar, southern Dublin, died Sunday after his car crashed in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA.
Slatary’s 24-year-old friend, also from Crumlin, who was also in the car, is in danger at the hospital.
Slutary, the nephew of Irial Slutary, the owner of a pub in Slutary in Begger’s Bush, has been working part-time in a landmark pub for the past six years as a student.
Irial Slattery states: She has shed so many tears. “
Daniel was so well received by his uncle that in the fall of 2019, shortly before the pandemic, Irial nominated him to take the Irish Hospitality Global Awards on behalf of Slatalies.
The Slattery pub also posted a compliment on Facebook.
“It’s very sad to know that Dan Slutary died in a car accident early last Sunday in the United States,” the message read.
“Many of you will know that Dan worked part-time behind the Slattery’s bar for the past six years when he was a student.
“He was a very pleasant and friendly young man and always had a lot of fun.
“Daniel Slattery-Son of Martin and Alice. Brother of Laoise, Ana, Maebh, Cate, Aoife, Nuala and nephew of Slattery’s owner Irial Slattery.
“I missed it very sadly to my colleagues, friends and customers at Slattery’s.” Ardheis Dégoraibhaanam. “
A friend responded to Mr. Slatary’s family with “thoughts and prayers.” He added: “Dan attended De La Salle College Churchtown. He was a great student, a great rugby player and a very sad day.”
Another friend added that Mr. Slutary was “a beautiful and kind young man who gave way too soon.”
One woman added that “taking in is painful” and Slattery was a “great man.”
Another woman wrote that she wanted Mr. Slatary’s “calm soul to sleep peacefully.”
One man briefly added that Mr. Slutary was an “absolute gentleman.”
Tragically, the car in which the two young men were riding turned over and fired.
The pair was thought to have worked in the United States
Hillsboro police spokesman Sgt Stewart Kelsey said Slattery’s family is now in the city and will bring his body back to Ireland.
Police responded to reports of a car burning on the edge of the city with its roof turned over after 4:30 am on Sunday.
He said the cause of the accident was under investigation.
“We are investigating several factors around this incident, but due to the sensitivity of the accident, their details have not been released. It will take several days for the latest information on the accident investigation to come out. Would be. “
He added that the Washington County Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (CART), which investigated the collision site, is currently completing the investigation. It is a multi-institutional team of law enforcement officers from the local police station, sheriff’s office, and Washington District Attorney’s Office, investigating and rebuilding road accidents.
Details of Daniel Slattery’s funeral will be announced later.
