Two male lawyers charged with the murder of criminal journalist Peter R. de Fries have lower or acquitted clients, alleging that the prosecution has exaggerated their involvement in the crime. I am seeking.
The hearing on Wednesday began with a statement from DeVries partner Tahmina Akefi. He told the court that she would never heal from the wounds left by his murder. “I couldn’t find a word to explain the pain,” she said. De Vries’ children released a statement last week regarding their impact on victims.
Prosecutors shot De Vries five times when 22-year-old Delano G from Thiel was walking towards his car at Leidsedwarsstraat in Amsterdam in July 2021, and 33-year-old Polish national Camil E. Says he drove a fleece car. Last week, the prosecution sought life imprisonment for both men.

Prosecutors alleged that the killing of De Vries was part of a campaign that terrorized those involved in the trial of gang leader Ridouan Taghi. At the time of his murder, he was helping a witness to the crown of the incident.
But Delano G’s lawyer claimed he didn’t even know what deVries was like. “The fact that Delano G was born in the Netherlands does not mean he must have known,” claimed lawyer Ronald van der Horst. Van der Horst also told the court that his client was only told who his target was 2.5 hours before the murder.
His lawyer also claimed that life imprisonment was not consistent with crime. Anique Slijters pointed out that the 25-year sentence (the largest possible sentence in the Netherlands) was less than the sentence Anders Breivik received for killing 77 people in a terrorist attack in Norway.
Just a driver
Kamil E’s defense focused on the lack of involvement in the murder itself. His lawyer claimed that he only drove the Delano G to the city center of Amsterdam and did not expect the murder to take place.
“Kamil E. played no role during the crime,” Admiral Alexander told the court.
The court will announce the verdict on July 14.
