Singapore-The food manufacturing department of a company supplying restaurants and food stores was told to shut down after live and dead cockroaches, and a rodent animal that had been decomposed was found during inspection. ..

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on Wednesday (June 15th) that the unit’s food business was suspended under Everdragon Food after being checked earlier in the day.

The company is listed online as specializing in traditional Chinese cakes and breads.

Inspection revealed a serious pest epidemic, including cockroach and rodent activity on the premises of the food manufacturing unit at 3020 Ubi Avenue 2.

Pests were found in the treatment area and on the mezzanine floor.

The SFA said it had instructed the licensee to observe some other revocations related to inadequate maintenance of the facility, correct them and take the necessary steps to improve the cleanliness there. ..

As a precautionary measure, we instructed the licensee to recall the “Youtiao” (fried bread fritters) products distributed to various stalls.

“Food safety is a joint responsibility as food can be contaminated anywhere in the food chain.

“The SFA remains vigilant and strives to ensure that regulatory measures are in place and enforced properly, but industry and consumers must play their respective roles,” he said.

The SFA added that all food operators need to ensure that their facilities are clean and well maintained, and that staff are properly trained in proper food safety management.

Violators who do not comply with regulations, or food hygiene and food safety requirements, may be fined up to $ 5,000, imprisoned for up to 12 months, or both.

The general public who encounter poor hygiene habits in food facilities is advised not to patronize them and to provide feedback via the SFA’s online feedback form.
