Johnny Depp’s lawyer states that the allegations by Amber Heard’s representatives that the jury was “contaminated” by advertising the case when it reached a verdict in the case were “unfounded.”
Enjamin Chu, a member of the actor’s legal team, said in a recent interview that Elaine Bredehoft’s attack on the jury’s integrity was “really disappointing.”
Ms. Bredehoft said in an interview with today’s US news program shortly after the verdict was returned in a multi-million dollar defamation case.
Depp sued his former partner in a 2018 editorial in The Washington Post. His lawyer said he mistakenly accused her of being physically and sexually violent.
Chu, who discussed Mr. Bredehoft’s allegations during the interview, told the Law and Crime Network:
“As you know, the jury vowed not to watch social media, and there was no reason to believe they saw it, so it seems that the jury’s integrity was at stake.
“So it was a shame to hear such an unfounded claim.”
In her interview, Ms. Bredehoft also said today that there is a “number of evidence problems” that Mr. Chu said was “ridiculous.”
“There was a rule of evidence, and there was evidence on both sides that was excluded for good evidence reasons,” he said.

Mr. Haad has “absolutely” appealed the verdict and has “good grounds” to do so, Mr. Bredehoft said.
