Dr. Sheldon Holder has been selected as a finalist in the CureAccelerator program, where researchers publish clinical repurposing trials. Receive a $70,000 clinical trial grant.
Dr. Holder, a physician scientist at Brown University Cancer Center in Providence, Rhode Island, is one of four finalists in CureAccelerator Live! – A virtual event where researchers present their clinical trials.
The organization said:For diversity, equity and inclusion [DEI]its unique charity pitch competition that will take place virtually on October 6, 2022.
“Researchers and clinicians from four institutions across the United States present clinical repurposed research trials to community members representing industry, research, medicine, philanthropic organizations and patient groups. The winning trial will receive a $70,000 clinical Selected by attendees to receive grants to help with exams.
Dr. Holder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University and a Chief Physician in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Lifespan Cancer Institute.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama and a M.D. degree from Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Holder completed his internal medicine residency training at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania and completed his hematology/oncology fellowship training at his Ingram Comprehensive Cancer Center at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Holder’s presentation at the event was “Repurposing the Prostate Cancer Drug Degarelix to Treat Bladder Cancer.”
