Sir Elton John says he wants to release a ‘happy record’ about reworking his song ‘Tiny Dancer’ with Britney Spears.

The duo released the long-awaited song Hold Me Closer last month, a mix of their 1971 hit Tiny Dancer and 1992 song The One, which also features parts of 1976’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.

The chart-climbing collaboration is Spears’ first new song in six years and the first release after a 13-year maintenance period.

The 75-year-old told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about reworking Tiny Dancer.

he said:

“The world needs happiness now. Turn on the radio, turn on the TV and everything is hopeless. I wanted to bring something happy into the world.

“Andrew Watt[record producer]added a little bass part to Tiny Dancer. I suggested a bit that goes into Tiny Dancer.

“What I wanted to do was not treat Tiny Dancer as a classic song, but update it to a contemporary song and use it in a different way.

“That’s what Melody can do. Luckily, I have enough songs in my pocket to do that.”

“I don’t know if we’ll do another one, but this was an idea we had.”

Elton John said he was pleased that Spears, 40,’s single was well received.

he said:

“I’m really happy for Britney. Especially for her to be on this record, it’s so gassy at first. People, and she’s got it.”

“It didn’t give her a good reason at the moment. It’s been a really tough few years for her. She hasn’t made any music since 2016, so for me it’s all about her.” .”

He said he hadn’t spoken to Spears since the song’s release, but that they “kept in touch via email and stuff,” and Spears sent him and husband David Furnish a gift. .

“She hasn’t been on the charts for a long time, but like I say, she’s warming up, she’s defrosting, she’s having a great time,” he said.

“I don’t know when I’ll be able to see her or talk to her, but it doesn’t really matter. The more the record works, the more it helps her heal.”

“She will find that people love her very much and that they will miss her.”
