The ceremony opened with the national anthem, which was performed by the Abu Dhabi Police Band, and a speech by the President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praising the UAE’s role in hosting a major Jiu-Jitsu event. and the outstanding contribution of the nation to the development of world sport.

The opening ceremony welcomed the teams participating in the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships with the flags of the athletes raised.

Commenting on the event, Abdel-Moneim Al-Hashemi said: The number of jiu-jitsu in the world is increasing.

“The United Arab Emirates son and daughter have put on a brave performance on the mat. They are up to the challenge and are fully committed to retaining their world champion titles for the third year in a row,” said Al. Hashemi added.

The 2022 edition will be the third edition of the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi and is expected to attract 2,000 male and female competitors from 70 countries.

The UAE national team won five medals (2 gold, 2 bronze and 1 silver) at the World Championships in Birmingham, USA in July.

They have also won both the 2019 and previous editions of the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
