London, July 7, 2022 (WAM)-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson today announced his resignation from the ruling Conservative Party leadership.

Johnson said at a press conference at government headquarters in London, the capital of the United Kingdom, that plans to select a new leader will be announced next week, indicating that he will continue to be prime minister until a new leader is elected.

“Today I have appointed a cabinet to serve as I do until a new leader is deployed,” he said.
