Ethan Boyle headed for a dramatic 96-minute equalizer when Finn Harps came from two downs to save points against St. Patrick’s Athletic.
The Illy King double appeared to have St. Pat’s house and horse, but the struggling harp counterattacked. Sub Jose Carilo gave ProLiant Horgan’s Side Hope in the last two minutes, and Finn Harps shook at the last act of the night when the host pulled the level.
Regan Doneron swung in a corner and the ball headed for a crowded area, where Boyle climbed to the highest and went home.
Pat took the lead after just 6 minutes. Mark Doyle’s wonderful work in the lower left created an opportunity for King to dodge Gavin Murearney. Chris Forester invited Doyle to go on a great pass in the 35th minute, but Murearney, who was favored here over Marc Anthony McGinley, was brilliantly saved.
In the 64th minute, King rolled across the rearguard of the home, doubling Pat’s lead and rifling in the lower corner. It looked like it was, but the harp pulled back one after Doyle fired off his target. Pat’s defender Sam Curtis was stretched on a stretcher in the second half, and Spanish Carilo sweated when Pat entered from close range.
There was still time to seal the unlikely draw with Boyle’s late intervention.
