Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in a wet third practice session ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix qualifying.

Alpine drivers set the pace of changing intermediate tires around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. At this circuit, champion and championship leader Max Verstappen moved his car away from the wall after spinning at the end of the hour.

Alonso set a time of 1 minute 33.836 seconds to beat the timesheet ahead of Pierre Guthrie’s Alpha Tauri.

Verstappen finished the session in 9th place, and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari did not participate because he exchanged some parts of the power unit. In other words, he is supposed to start the race from the back row.

Sebastian Vettel was the third fastest, ahead of Esteban Ocon’s second Alpine, with Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris two McLarens fifth and sixth, respectively.

George Russell struggled in 7th place for Mercedes and teammate Lewis Hamilton in 15th place.

Carlos Sainz closed Ferrari’s top 10 with harsher weather forecasts before the qualifying session.
