FNV Requests € 150 Million Long Covid Fund for Certified Care Workers

Trade union FNV has given the government 150 thousand to compensate about 4,800 people who may lose their jobs due to the effects of Long Covid or who have lost their income due to short-term work, primarily care workers. I hope to secure 10,000 euros.

FNV, which began registering certified care workers six months ago suffering from the effects of Long Covid, submitted a report to MPs on Tuesday prior to congressional discussions on a new coronavirus strategy later this week. ..

A total of about 4,200 certified care workers contact the union, of whom about 1,000 have lost their jobs or will soon be unemployed because they have been ill for more than two years. Due to health issues, a quarter needed to reduce the number of hours.

FNV wants the government to set up a € 150 million Long Covid fund to compensate workers for lost income and additional long-term care costs.

Three-quarters of Long Covid people who worked in long-term care facilities and hospitals believe they picked up the virus at work, said Kitty Jong, vice chairman of FNV. This will result in a work-related illness comparable to asbestos-related health problems with a similar compensation contract of € 22,000 per person.

“Especially those who work in long-term care facilities did not have proper protective clothing. It was blamed and meant that thousands of people are now suffering. Politicians shrug this. That would be a real face mask scandal, “she said.
