Arlind de Rosario, former Minister of Health of Cape Verde, is set to become the archipelago’s next Chinese ambassador.

He will complete his mandate on December 30, 2021, succeeding Tania Ramaldo, who has been Director of the National Foreign Policy Service since January.

Cape Verde Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said he hopes the new Chinese ambassador can continue to strengthen economic ties and cooperation with China.

“China is a very important partner of Cape Verde, has proven itself in terms of development cooperation and is an important global player, and we are all interested in strengthening this good partnership. I have,” said the prime minister.

Ulisses Correia e Silva recalled that Rosário graduated from medical school and served as Minister of Health for more than six years, including during difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic.
