Petaling Jaya – Despite being convicted of corruption, former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s wife Rosma Mansour has filed a petition to recover thousands of jewels and luxury bags at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. We are promoting.
Azamuddin Abdul Aziz, a lawyer representing Rosmah in his application, confirmed that the trial will proceed as scheduled on September 26th and 27th.
He said more than 2,400 pieces of jewelry and 29 luxury bags seized by police during a raid on Pavilion Residences in May 2018 are still in government custody.
In 2019, the prosecutor’s office produced 11,991 pieces of jewelry, 401 watch straps and 16 watch accessories, 234 eyeglasses, 306 handbags, and RM114,164,393.44 (S $35,787,246.10).
On Thursday (September 1), Rosmah was sentenced to 10 by the High Court after being found guilty of three corruption charges related to a RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project for 369 rural schools in Sarawak. He was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment and a fine of RM970 million.
Her attorney said she has appealed the conviction and sentence to the Court of Appeals.
Her sentence comes more than a week after her husband was jailed for 12 years for corruption. – Star/Asia News Network
