A fire has broken out in the engine room of a tugboat off Patreksfjörður, RÚV reports.

A Japan Coast Guard helicopter and the Metropolitan Police Department fire brigade were dispatched to the scene. He extinguished the fire 30 minutes after being called.

Tugs are an important part of maritime traffic in and out of Iceland. It also plays an important role in keeping ships moving smoothly in and out, especially in deep harbor ports of call such as Grundarfjörður and Reykjavik.
