Voting for The Bird of the Year began yesterday, September 5th, and continues through September 12th. The results will be announced on the Icelandic Nature Day on September 16th.

The birds participating in the vote are:

• Abi
• Crow
• Sandpiper
ogro god wit
• Arctic Tern
Wagtail

By voting for Bird of the Year, BirdLife Iceland wants to draw attention to the problems many birds currently face. Many bird species flock to Iceland for its favorable breeding conditions, but others are endangered by human activity, climate change and habitat destruction.
