Terminals 1 and 2 and the corridors connecting them will no longer be used. The old departure and arrival halls will be closed and converted into passenger and staff areas.
“Helsinki Airport was last operated in one terminal almost 30 years ago. The terminal used at that time was the first actual terminal to open in 1969 and then expanded in 1983. It was a passenger terminal, “says Lettijeff.
Helsinki Airport opened for the Helsinki Olympics 70 years ago.
With the opening of the new terminal, the 10-year development program is nearing completion and, according to Lettijeff, will be completed next year when the new baggage claim is open.
“We still see construction sites throughout the terminal, as some new service points are under construction,” says Lettijeff.
