Appleby has announced that Gary Harris is rejoining the Bermuda office.

A spokesperson said: From his Fortitude Re he joined Appleby, where he spent nearly three years in Bermuda as Head of Legal and Compliance. Gary will join the company’s market-leading insurance team on October 31.

“Gary joined Appleby in 2014 and has advised commercial insurers, special purpose entities, InsurTech companies, segregated account companies, captives, banks and investment firms. Includes our portfolio of reinsurance businesses, including divestitures and acquisitions, and legacy/run-off transactions.

“He has worked on a wide range of transactions across multiple countries and territories. , and advised corporate and institutional clients on complex syndicated loan arrangements.

“Before moving in-house, Gary was recognized by the Legal 500 as a ‘Next Generation Partner’ for the insurance/reinsurance sector and recommended for banking, financial and capital markets sectors. He was also recognized in Bermuda Re+ILS’ ‘Rising Stars’ Next Generation of Leaders 2017 issue featuring leading reinsurance industry professionals under the age of 35. ”

Mr Harris said: From Bermuda, he is excited to rejoin Appleby’s talented team to help corporate clients achieve their strategic, corporate and regulatory goals.

[Hons] He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Liverpool and two Master’s degrees in International Business Law from the University of Cambridge and UCL. He is a member of the Honor Society of the Inner His Temple and the Bermuda Bar Association, and a non-practicing member of both the Bar Council of England and Wales and the Bar Association of Jamaica. ”
