Riyadh: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Nayef Al-Hajraf on Saturday condemned German Interior Minister Nancy Feser’s recent remarks regarding Qatar’s 2022 World Cup.

At a press conference, he reiterated GCC members’ support for interfering in Qatar’s internal affairs through the allegation that it violates diplomatic norms and international law and is not conducive to normal relations between the two countries.

Qatar’s defender Al Hajraf said the Gulf nation was making progress and moving forward, lauding hosting the 2922 World Cup as a source of pride.

The German minister, quoted in a recent televised remark, emphasized that the awarding of major sporting events, such as the upcoming World Cup, should be linked to the criteria of “adherence to the principles of human rights and sustainability”. it was done.

Qatar summoned German Ambassador Claudius Fischbach on Friday to ask for clarification on the minister’s remarks.
