Defense Minister Bjorn Arildo Gram states that it is appropriate for Norway to train Ukrainian soldiers in the use of weapons. He does not want to deny that training can take place in Norwegian soil.

NATO wants to change Ukraine’s defense structure from Soviet equipment to NATO-standard modern Western weapons.

“The need for training and education has increased accordingly. We have already contributed to it. The donation of artillery was combined with the training of Ukrainian soldiers in Germany, which was also contributed by Norwegian soldiers. It may be relevant in the future, “Gram told NTB.

Gram did not want to “exclude” that training of Ukrainian soldiers could take place in Norway.

Gram’s statement was issued after NATO Secretary-General Jens Stortenberg announced that NATO was ready to provide Ukraine with both heavy weapons and long-range systems. The decision is likely to be made at the NATO summit in Madrid at the end of June.

“NATO’s allies at the summit hope to agree on a comprehensive package that will help Ukraine in the long run in the transition from Soviet equipment to NATO equipment,” Stoltenberg said at a press conference Wednesday. Said.
