(CNS): Police have charged an unidentified 31-year-old man from the Northside with two counts of murder. one for attempted murder and his other for unlicensed gun possession linked to a murder in Georgetown last summer. Mark Andre Ebanks died at the scene (36), eldon charles walton (55), died in hospital 2 weeks later. The man was arrested on Friday morning and soon after was charged with shooting and killing two of his men outside his bar at The Grove on Martin Drive on July 1, 2021. A third man was injured during the shooting.
The suspect appeared in court shortly after being indicted and remains in detention until November 11, when he is scheduled to appear before the Grand Court.
In August, Mickey Brandon Leslie 36, also known as Brandon Leslie Ebanks, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for possession of an unlicensed firearm after being at the murder scene and using an unlicensed semi-automatic 9mm pistol to open fire in retaliation. I was. Leslie was initially arrested at the airport shortly after the shootout on suspicion of murder, but it was soon revealed that he was not the killer, but was with one of the men killed.
A week after the murders, another mass shooting occurred at Vick’s Bar, which was believed to be related to the shooting at Martin Lane. Six people were shot, including Wayne McLean, who was killed. Ezekiel Carter, 36, was charged with the shooting, but the Crown dropped all charges against him in November as a result of new evidence.
No one else has been charged in that case.
