The Datengxia Water Conservation Hydropower Project, which will supply water to Macau and Zhuhai, is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
This information was provided by Wu Xiaolong, Chairman of the Guangxi Greater East Gorge Water Conservation Project Development Company, who recently introduced the project to a delegation of 12 Macau delegations from the National People’s Congress (NPC) visiting Guangxi. rice field. Macau Daily reported.
The project under construction in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China is a large-scale water conservancy project with functions of flood control, power generation, water resource allocation, shipping and irrigation.
After the project goes into operation, the time required for emergency water supply to Macau and Zhuhai will be reduced from the current 7-10 days to 3 days, ensuring water supply to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
The total cost of the project, which began construction in 2014, is estimated at RMB 35.736 billion (MOP41.4 billion / US$5.12 billion).
Although the normal water level of the reservoir is 61 meters, the total capacity of the reservoir is 3,479 million cubic meters, and the reservoir capacity for flood control is 1,500 million cubic meters, making it one of the most important places for flood control in the basin. I’m here.
The Datengxia hydropower station is expected to generate 6.055 billion kWh of electricity annually when fully operational in 2023.
Macau NPC deputy director José Chui Sai Peng said the construction of the Datengxia water conservancy hydropower project not only secured the SAR’s water supply, but also reflected the state’s concern for Macau residents.
