China’s southern province of Hainan plans to ban the sale of all fuel-powered vehicles by 2030, according to a government document.
According to the carbon peaking implementation plan released by the provincial government on Monday, all new and replacement vehicles in public and commercial services in Hainan will use clean energy by 2025, and sales of fuel-fueled vehicles will reach 2030. It is forbidden.
The plan made Hainan the first province in China to ban the sale of fuel-powered vehicles.
The plan also points out that Hainan will provide preferential policies in areas such as vehicle purchase tax for new energy vehicles, and gradually promote the use of clean energy in various types of vehicles in the province.
The plan arose in the country’s efforts to reach its carbon peak and neutrality goals. China has announced that it aims to peak its carbon footprint by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
