The MATEY Seafood Festival will be held from September 8th to 10th. The festival aims to celebrate the food and producers of the Westmann Islands, claimed to be one of Iceland’s largest islands on the world gastronomic map.

The Best of Reykjavik Fall 2022 edition is out! To celebrate, we’re adding a copy to all discount boxes ordered by September 12th! As always, join the High Five Club, support journalism, and get discounts at our shops and tours. Receive or have the latest issue sent directly to you by email.

Restaurants (including GOTT, Slippurinn and Einsi Kaldi), fish factories, food producers and other food industry service partners will work together at the festival to highlight Westmannian foods.

Visitors get a glimpse into the history of local food and a century-old fishing tradition. In 2021, it has been nominated as the best Nordic food destination at the Embra Food Awards.

In addition to learning about the island’s food history and tasting authentic foods, the festival will also feature business-oriented discussions about how the seafood industry operates, the ‘blue economy’ and more.
