Tehran: According to a statement, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hamenei called for strengthening “long-term cooperation” with Russia in a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

“The long-term cooperation between Iran and Russia is very beneficial to both countries,” he said in a statement on his official website, saying they are under Western sanctions.

“There is a lot of understanding and contracts between the two countries, including the oil and gas sector, which needs to be followed up and fully implemented,” added Hamenei.
