The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras) warned on Wednesday (June 8) of fraudulent emails from tax authorities during the start of the corporate tax filing season.
@ iras.gov.sg A phishing email disguised as a domain tells the recipient to check the status of the corporate income tax return or click the attachment to file the tax return.
“Taxpayers should be aware that Iras will not send emails to taxpayers requesting that they check the status of their corporate income tax returns or file tax returns via attachments. “Iras said in that recommendation.
Iras will not click links, provide personal information, make payments, follow email instructions, and be fooled by fake SMS, emails and WhatsApp messages with fake Iras names. I advised the general public.
Tax authorities have added that they do not request taxpayers’ personal or confidential information via email or loose web links.
Instead, Iras added that all corporate income tax transactions are conducted via mytax.iras.gov.sg using the Singpass login.
This year’s corporate tax filing season ends on November 30th.
Those who have been scammed are advised to submit a police report.
Last month, Iras warned of fraudulent emails requiring recipients to click on fraudulent links to make payments due to tax return inconsistencies.
The email requires the recipient to fill in the discrepancy by clicking on the incorrect link and paying the unpaid amount.
