British singer-songwriter Kate Bush revealed that she was pleased with the reception she received for her song “Mysterious Hill” after being featured in the fourth series of Stranger Things.

First released in 1985, Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) regained popularity after being played in episodes 1 and 4 of the latest Netflix hit series.

At the show, you can hear Max Mayfield, played by Sadie Sink, listening to the song on his Walkman.

Bush, 63, said he was pleased that the song was a “positive totem” for Max’s character.

In a statement, President Bush said:

“Since then, we’ve seen all the series as a family. When they approached us to use RunningUp That Hill, great attention was paid to how they were used in the context of the story. I found out. I really like the fact that this song is a positive totem of the character Max.

“I was really impressed with this latest series. It’s a spectacular piece – the show is very well combined with great characters and great SFX.

“It’s very moving to have this song so warmly accepted, especially because it’s driven by young fans who love the show.

“I’m really happy that the Duffer brothers have received such positive feedback on their latest work. They deserve it.”

Since appearing on Stranger Things, the song has reappeared on the Official Charts Company’s UK Singles Charts and is currently ranked 6th.

The track is back on the charts for New Zealand and Australia.
