LOS ANGELES: Kevin Hart has already had a career in comedy and acting, and now he’s targeting people’s stomachs.
The prolific actor and comedian opened his first plant-based fast food restaurant called Hart House on Thursday in the Westchester neighborhood near Los Angeles’ airport. It hopes to attract people who eat plant-based diets on a regular basis, as well as those who have not yet been introduced to the world of healthy eating.
“Our business is to make you feel good. That’s Kevin Hart,” he said in an interview before the restaurant’s official opening. His wife, Eniko Hart, the actor scarfed down plant-based crispy chicken and sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and tots.
Rapper Lil Baby showed up at the preview and ordered an entirely plant-based menu of burgers, salads, fries, iced tea, limeade and more. The restaurant’s milkshakes are made from a blend of oats and soybeans.
“I always say, ‘Live, love, laugh,'” Hart continued. People are interested in plant-based foods. that’s what i eat It’s really good. Looking at other restaurants, Hart House is just as good, and maybe even better in some respects. ”
Hart felt the need to create a healthy space within fast food that was affordable for customers. House’s approach is to offer quality sandwiches and burgers at a price range of $5 to $7, which is lower than the competition.
“It’s a top priority for us,” Hart said.
To create Hart House, the comedian and actor teamed with restaurateur Andy Hooper, chef Mike Salem and investor and businessman Michael Rubin.
Salem, who developed Hart House’s menu options, was responsible for culinary innovation at Burger King and helped launch Impossible Whopper.
“One of the great things about our leadership is that most of us are carnivores, but we wanted to create this plant-based concept and make Kevin’s vision clear. We wanted to keep this simple.This is simple, classic American comfort food.”
Hart hopes to open six more Hart House restaurants by the end of the year, in addition to his flagship store. He already has two locations in Los Angeles under construction, one of which is in the Hollywood area.
“We are open minded,” he said. This is the beginning stage for us. We keep improving over time. ”
It’s been a busy week for Hart, whose latest movie Me Time with Mark Wahlberg and Regina Hall hits Netflix on Friday.
