Irish video game company Keywords Studios is facing a proceeding in California from a job seeker who claims to have been discriminated against in a previous conviction.
The Dublin-based London-listed company is worth more than € 2 billion and provides services such as testing and translation to other gaming companies.
Future job seekers at Keyword Studio’s Burlingame Office are challenging the withdrawal of the conditional recruiting company.
Candidates said they were offered a position as a VR playtester in late 2021 to identify bugs and other issues in the game.
He said the offer was withdrawn after the company discovered that it had been convicted of drugs. He claims that this violates California’s Fair Chance Act. The law restricts businesses from requiring applicants to disclose their convictions.
