London: King Charles III vowed to follow in the footsteps of his late mother’s many years of service to Britain and the Commonwealth, and on Friday elevated his successor, William, as the new Prince of Wales, in a moving televised address.
Charles said he shared the nation’s “immeasurable sense of loss” after his mother died Thursday at the age of 96 after a record-breaking 70-year reign.
“I renew my promise of lifelong service to all of you today,” he said. “Just as the Queen herself has made such unwavering devotion, I now solemnly pledge to uphold the constitutional principles at the heart of our nation through the rest of the time God gives me. “
The new king, along with his father, Prince Philip, who died last year, called out to his “beloved mama” and said, “I just want to say one word, thank you.”
“Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the families of the nation that you have served so diligently all this time. May the angelic flocks sing to you in peace.”
As heiress to the Queen, Charles is Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, a title that was soon passed to William on Thursday.
But the highest title of heir to the throne, Prince of Wales, remained a monarch’s gift to bestow or withhold.
“Today I am proud to have him born as Tywysog Cymru (in Welsh), Prince of Wales. I’ve been honored,” said Charles.
“With Katherine by his side, our new Prince and Princess of Wales are in a central position where they can continue to inspire and lead our national conversation and provide vital assistance. It helps bring limits.”
A date for the Queen’s state funeral has yet to be confirmed, but is scheduled for September 19th. Get some rest,” Charles said.
“In our grief, let us remember the light of her example and draw strength.” It means more to me than I can express.”
Below is a complete transcript of Charles III’s statement, pre-recorded in the afternoon in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace and broadcast on UK television at 6:00 pm (17:00 GMT).
“Today I speak to you with great sadness. Throughout my life, Her Majesty the Queen – my beloved mother – has been an inspiration and example to me and my entire family. Her love , for love, guidance, understanding, and example.
“Queen Elizabeth’s life was a promise well lived and destined, and we mourn her loss most deeply. We renew our promise of a lifetime of service to all of you today.
“In addition to the personal grief felt by my entire family, I share my deepest gratitude with the United Kingdom, all the countries where the Queen has been Head of State, the Commonwealth of Nations and many of you around the world. For over 70 years my mother served many nations as queen.
“In 1947, on her 21st birthday, in a broadcast from Cape Town to the Commonwealth, she vowed to dedicate her life to the people, long or short.
“It wasn’t just a promise. It was a deeply personal commitment that defined her entire life. She made a sacrifice for the mission.”
“Her dedication and devotion as sovereign has never wavered through times of change and progress, times of joy and celebration, and times of sorrow and loss.
“In her life of service, we have seen an unwavering love of tradition and a fearless embrace of progress that make us great as a nation. , admiration, and respect became the hallmarks of her reign.
“And, as my entire family can attest, she combined these qualities with warmth, humor, and an unerring ability to always see the best in people.
“I honor the memory of my mother and honor her life of service. Hmm.
“When the Queen took the throne, Britain and the world were still coping with poverty and the aftermath of World War II, living according to their previous customs.
“In the last 70 years we have seen society become one of many cultures and many faiths.
“The institutions of the nation have changed in turn. But through all the changes and challenges, our nation and the wider family of the realms have made me so proud of their talents, traditions and achievements.” Our values have not changed and must change.
“The roles and duties of the monarchy remain, as well as the monarch’s special relationship and responsibility to the Church of England, in which my own faith is so deeply rooted.
“In that conviction and the values it inspires, I value my sense of duty to others and maximize the precious traditions, freedoms and responsibilities of our unique history and system of parliamentary government. I was raised to respect you.
“Just as the Queen herself has made such unwavering devotion, I solemnly pledge to uphold the constitutional principles at the heart of our nation through the rest of the time that God has given me.
“And wherever you live in the UK, in any kingdom or territory around the world, whatever your background or beliefs, I will, as I have done all my life, cherish loyalty, respect and I will do my best to serve you with love.
“Obviously my life changes when I take on new responsibilities.
“It is no longer possible for me to dedicate so much time and energy to the charities and causes that I care deeply about. I know
“This is a time of change for my family as well. I count on the loving help of my beloved wife, Camila.
“Since their marriage 17 years ago, in recognition of her own loyal public service, she will become my Queen.
“I know she will bring to the demands of her new role a steadfast devotion to duty that I have come to rely heavily on.
“As my heir, William now inherits a Scottish title that means a lot to me.
“He will succeed me as Duke of Cornwall and assume the responsibilities of the Duchy of Cornwall that I have held for over fifty years.
“Today I am proud to create him as Tywysog Cymru, Prince of Wales. I am thinking.
“With Katherine at her side, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will continue to inspire and lead our national conversation and limit themselves to a central position where they can provide vital assistance. help bring about
“I also want to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they build their lives abroad.
“In about a week’s time, we will come together as a nation, as a federation, and indeed as a global community, to put my beloved mother to rest.

“On behalf of the whole family, I have nothing but my sincere condolences and heartfelt thanks for your support. They mean more to me than I can express.
“And, dear Mama, as you begin your final wonderful journey to join your beloved late Daddy, I just want to say: Thank you.
“Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the families of the nation you have served so diligently all this time. ‘May the flock of angels sing to you in peace.'”
