Laura Whitmore has announced that she is stepping down from her role as host of ITV’s Love Island.
The 37-year-old has been presenting the popular dating show and its spin-off series After Sun since 2020, following the death of the show’s former host, Caroline Flack.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Whitmore wrote: It will not host the next series of Love Island.
“There are certain elements of the show that I have found very difficult and some that cannot be changed because of the format, for example going back and forth to South Africa with conflicting new projects.
“I wish it was still possible, but please know you’ll be kept safe. I was planning on just filling in Caroline for the series, but now it’s 3 series.” I think I could have made Caroline proud.”
After the announcement, an ITV spokesperson said:
“While we appreciate everything she brings to the program, we understand and respect her decisions and look forward to working with her on future ITV projects.”
