You are part of the Dutch agricultural network

Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, he reports directly to an agricultural counselor in Bucharest, Romania. Together you are part of the Dutch Agricultural Network of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Foods and Quality of the Netherlands.

This network maintains centralized contact with authorities around the world, the Dutch and local business communities, knowledge institutions and civil society organizations.

Agricultural networks focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) connect Dutch agricultural companies and knowledge institutions to partners and projects, strengthening the international status of Dutch agribusiness.

This network supports policymaking, dialogue and (bilateral and multilateral) cooperation in the areas of sustainable agriculture, nature / biodiversity, food safety, food security and fisheries. Promoting trade, stimulating Dutch investment abroad, and promoting market access to Dutch agricultural products and knowledge and technology are also central tasks of this network.

You and your colleagues on this international network will be in direct contact with relevant players and through communication through reports, newsletters, social media and the website www.agroberichtenbuitenland.nl, Dutch agricultural business, knowledge institutions and policies. We are actively looking for opportunities for planners.

Job Description

Bulgaria’s Senior Agricultural Policy Advisor:

  • Independently and proactively identify, establish and maintain relevant networks of government agencies, knowledge agencies, sectoral organizations, business circles and civil society organizations.
  • Identify, collect, analyze, interpret and report on the development of Bulgarian agriculture (including animal and plant health), nature, food and fisheries, which are important for policymaking by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Foods and Quality.
  • Identify, organize and evaluate bilateral cooperation projects in the areas of sustainable agricultural food production, circular agriculture, nature and the environment, food safety and food security, and consult with government agencies, knowledge agencies and other relevant organizations. Do this.
  • We collect and provide market information, local (veterinary and phytosanitary) laws, regulations, and analysis of the Dutch agricultural food business for the purpose of market development in the work area.
  • Organize official visits, trade and policy missions, seminars / webins, workshops, trade fair activities, networking events, and other activities. This includes suggestions from (Netherlands) speakers of activities sponsored by Bulgarian stakeholders to share Dutch knowledge and expertise.
  • Participate in seminars and networking opportunities to (re) present Dutch interests and policies.
  • Track transaction requests, activities, and contacts in the relevant database.

  • Actively report to the agricultural counselor who is ultimately responsible.

Job requirements

Universal

  • master’s degree.
  • Related 5 years of work experience.

knowledge

  • Knowledge of the agricultural policy field, related laws and regulations, agricultural business, sector organizations and knowledge institutions.
  • Knowledge of the structure, society, current agricultural policy developments and trade position of the Bulgarian government.
  • Knowledge of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy and Agricultural Environmental Policy, and knowledge of veterinary and phytosanitary laws.
  • A proper network of contacts in relevant areas is an advantage.
  • Requires excellent oral and written commands in Bulgarian and English.

  • Good communication skills.
  • Natural networking skills with the ability to build, maintain and extend a network of contacts at all relevant disciplines and at all levels.
  • You can work positively and independently.
  • Ability to analyze insights and information and transform it into policy recommendations, work plans, and reports.

What do we offer?

We offer full-time appointments (36,5 hours) with a dynamic international team. It is a local contract according to the regulations of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The contract period is one year, and after the ability is proved, it is possible to contract for multiple years. Total salary depends on education and experience.
