Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng expressed deep condolences over the passing of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, according to a statement released by the Government Intelligence Service on Friday.

The statement quoted Ho as saying that Queen Elizabeth II “dedicated her life to England and the British people”, noting that she was “greatly respected and loved by the British people”.

Ho also extended his heartfelt condolences to King Charles III, other members of the British Royal Family, the British Government and the British people on behalf of himself and the Government of Macau.

Britons make up a significant number of Macau’s expat community. The British Chamber of Commerce (Britham Macau) and The Londoner Macau, a British-themed integrated resort.

Macau’s Famous Egg Tarts – Established in 1989 – Iconic in and out of Macau, this egg tart was started by Englishman Andrew Stowe of Lord Stow’s Bakery. Decades later, the bakery is run by his sister Eileen Stowe.
