cormorantunderdog Hong Kong won the toss and chose to face mighty India in yesterday’s Asian Cup.

Hong Kong won all three matches in Oman to qualify for the Asian Cup, including a match against favorites United Arab Emirates.

“In Oman, we were good chasers and that’s what we wanted to do,” Hong Kong skipper Nizakat Khan said at the toss. I want to do the same.”

Nizakat was referring to the Asian Cup game between the two countries four years ago when India won a hard-fought group game by 26 runs at the same Dubai International Stadium. However, that tournament was in his ODI format.

India beat arch-rivals Pakistan in their Group A opener and will move to the top of the group and advance to the Super 4 stage with Wednesday’s victory.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who played a key role in India’s victory over Pakistan, was rested and included in the XI, with wicketkeeper batter Rishab Punt playing.

Afghanistan have already qualified for the Super 4 stage from Group B, beating both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. MDT/AP
