A male passenger in his early 30s died last night after his car hit a tree in Co Wexford.

Aldai is investigating a single vehicle fatality in a traffic accident on R733 at Bursey Commons, Clearystown, County Wexford, on Sunday 14th August at approximately 10.40pm.

“A male passenger (early 30s) was fatally injured when the car he was riding in collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead on the spot. “The male driver of the car, in his late 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“R733, Bursey Commons, Clearystown County Wexford, is currently closed in both directions due to a technical inspection of the site by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road will remain closed until the inspection is completed Monday morning.”

Gardaí is calling on anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them. Road users who are traveling in the area and who may have camera footage, including dash cam footage, will be asked to make it available for Gardai’s investigation.
