Current World Champion Max Verstappen picked up pace in his first practice session prior to Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver led the championship, winning on the streets of Baku last week, 21 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.
Towards Montreal, the Paddock story surrounds the FIA’s decision to intervene to find a bounce solution that has influenced the new-looking cars this season.

Verstappen had less trouble than the other players on the grid and again set the fastest time at 1’15.158 seconds, surpassing the timesheet.
Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari was second and Fernando Alonso’s Alpine was third to his sister Perez’s Red Bull.
Charles Leclerc, who avoided the grid penalty, was fifth and Mercedes’ fastest George Russell was sixth after having to replace only part of the energy unit.

Lance Stroll, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo conclude the top ten.
Landhoris McLaren was forced early after a problem was discovered in his car and fell to 12th place, but Groundhog overcame a dangerous run towards the end of the session.
