Megan Britain’s Prince Harry’s wife, Markle, launched her much-anticipated podcast on Tuesday, with tennis megastar Serena Williams as the first guest. series explores the experience of women, named after the couple’s oldest child, Archie. “I’m going to live in and tear up,” Markle said. I want to find out.
In the hour-long episode, Markle and Williams, who share friendships and Los Angeles roots, discuss the concept of being “ambitious” and how it applies differently to men and women. “I don’t remember personally feeling the negative connotations behind the ambitious words until I started dating my now-husband,” the host told Harry, who makes a brief cameo earlier in the show. “And apparently, ambition is a terrible, terrible thing – for women, it is, according to some.”
Williams, 40, recently announced plans to retire after this month’s US Open, ending a stellar tennis career that won 23 Grand Slam titles. Harry and his wife made a spectacular exit from British royal life in 2020. They moved to California and now live in the Celebrity Enclave with her two children.
Last year, the couple told Oprah Winfrey that life on “The Farm” was miserable and racist, including speculative comments from an unnamed royal about the skin color of their then-unborn child. Markle is of mixed race. The royal family denies racism. Much ink has been spilled over the deterioration of the once-strong friendship between Harry and his brother William, who will one day succeed to the British throne.
In July, the internet sparked speculation about Prince William’s private tendencies, with a Sussex fan claiming that previous negative talk about the couple was planted to distract from the ludicrous allegations. Markle’s podcast series is on Spotify and is part of a series of lucrative deals the pair signed, including television, publishing and motivational speaking. Harry plans to publish his memoir later this year as Buckingham Palace braces for more chaos.–AFP
